KARRI COTTAGE HISTORY
by Judy Saunders (née Helyar)

Karri Cottage was built in Busselton in 1925 for my mother and father, Gladys and Charles Helyar.

This type of house was known as a "Worker’s Home".

They were built completely in Jarrah timber and the standard of construction was high. My father paid off the house over many years at seven shillings and sixpence (7/6) per week. My 2 brothers and I grew up in Karri Cottage.
